Doc Sullivan's

A tasty wing with sauces that stray Final Overall Score: 4.1  Restaurant: 3.5  Classic Buffalo sports dive bar that is a little tired. It's got that comfortable South Buffalo Irish pub feel. Taste: 4.0  Overall a super Buffalo wing!! Unique presentation, an extremely tasty wing. The bleu cheese was strange and tasted like pure sour cream. It was thick and not very appetizing - we didn’t even want to dip the wings nor celery in it. Also, the wing sauce itself was so unique that is strays from being an ideal Buffalo sauce. Sauce: 4.0  Overly garlicky to be a perfect Buffalo sauce, and lacking some creaminess. However, the sauce had a great heat and wonderful quantity slathered over the wings! Crispiness: 5.0  Very crispy! Perfectly cooked and delectable. Size & Quality: 4.0  Good size and quality, exactly as expected with the exception that we received 7 drums and 3 flats. Very disappointing to flat fans. Have you eaten at Doc Sullivan

The Lenox Grill

Extremely tasty yet under-sauced wings Final Overall Score: 4.0  Restaurant: 4.5  Upscale classic buffalo bar. The iconic copper ceiling tiles and huge wooden bar are awesome and impressive. Street parking can be a pain. Taste: 4.0  Overall, mostly balanced but missing some key points on the sauce and some in the crispiness. Sauce: 3.0  GOOD! An almost perfect sauce, but severely lacking in quantity. The heat is right, flavor is great. Absolutely no coating on each wing! Such a bummer. Crispiness: 3.5  So close yet so far - cooked well but still unfortunately a bit soft. Size & Quality: 5.0  Great! 5 flats and 5 drums, all big and beautiful. Have you eaten at The Lenox Grill? Bob and John's La Hacienda

So bad that the restaurant refunded our money Final Overall Score: 1.9   Restaurant: 3.5  Clean, bright atmosphere. Nothing remarkable; a nice family restaurant feel. Fun fact: Bob & John's is right next door to Wellington Pub. Taste: 1.0  Overall a disaster due to extreme gumminess. Heat index of the sauce is good, but that is pretty much the only thing that go well for these wings… at least good bleu cheese and celery/carrot sticks are included. Sauce: 2.0  The only saving grace was that the sauce was approaching decent. Good medium spiciness and good flavor. However, not enough quantity of sauce. No creaminess whatsoever. Crispiness: 0.0 Repugnant gummy skin and meat. The soggiest wings. Very oily. Inedible. Size & Quality: 3.0  Mostly large but some significant inconsistencies in size. Swannie House

Great classic Buffalo bar, not great classic wings Final Overall Score: 3.0  Restaurant: 4.0  Swannie House has that classic “Buffalo” atmosphere (wood paneling, dark, and somehow dankly charming and welcoming). Service was good, bar is lively. Note that this place is hopping and difficult to get into, especially if there is a Sabres game or an event at the KeyBank center. Taste: 2.5  Crispy, large wings with disappointing skin and even more disappointing meat. The sauce had a sweet note that scored sourly with us. Even the bleu cheese was sweet, which we didn’t like. Sauce: 2.5 On the low end of medium spicy. No creaminess and instead had a sugary sweetness. Quantity of sauce was plentiful, but it does not stick to the wings and pooled at the bottom of the plate. Crispiness: 2.0  Mostly crispy skin, but the overly gummy meat was a show stopper. The consistency of the meat was like warm chewing gum. Size & Quality: 4.0 Mostly big beautiful size, b

Wellington Pub

Somewhat better than average wings Final Overall Score: 3.6  Restaurant: 4.5  Owned by the same people as Bob & Johns! Irish pub atmosphere. Taste: 3.5  Decent - good heat, good medium sauce, crispy with a tad of gumminess in the meat. Sauce: 4.0  Well rounded, could have had a tad more quantity and better coating consistency on the wings. Spicy and paired nicely with the crispy skin. Crispiness: 3.0  Mostly crispy skin, but not as crispy as it should be. The meat was cooked well but somehow it was gummy overall. Size & Quality: 3.0 Seemingly same exact meat as Bob and John's next door - mostly large wings but with some very noticeable sizing inconsistencies. Have you eaten at the Wellington Pub?
